Ansmann Express Speed Charger Capacity Tests

The Ansmann Express Speed Charger did a good job of charging the Energizer AA 2500 mAh and the Ansmann AA 2700 mAh NiMH Rechargeable Batteries.

It did not do as good a job with the Duracell AA 2500 mAh NiMH Rechargeable Battery leaving about 5% uncharged.

Energizer AA 2500 > 97%
Duracell AA 2500
> 94%
Ansmann AA 2700
> 97%

( tested results in % of rated capacity, i.e.. for a 2000mAh battery 99% = 1980mAh )

Ansmann Express Speed Charger Temperature Tests

The Ansmann Express kept the Energizer AA 2500 mAh and the Duracell AA 2500 mAh NiMH Rechargeable Battery temperature at about 30 degress Celsius during most of the charge cycle.

At the End of Charge, the temperature reached about 37.5 degress Celsius.

The rechargeable batteries did not experience any excessive temperature build up during the charge cycle.

Ansmann Express Speed Charging Characteristics

The Ansmann Express does a good job of charging while keeping the batteries cool. There is no mention of any pulse charging technology in the Operating Instruction, but the charge cycle does experience regular voltage or current changes.

Even during Trickle charge ( after the End of Charge Bump ), you can see regular voltage or current changes.

Conclusion

Overall Conclusion

The Ansmann Express Speed Charger does a good job of charging the NiMH Rechargeable Batteries we tested. The temperature was kept at a cool 30 degrees which is also excellent.

At a street price of about $28US for the Ansmann Express Speed Charger Kit, your getting a really good deal. Figure in the 4 AA NiMH batteries and the car adapter, the charger is only costing you about $10 to $12US.

The only thing that we're not crazy about is the selector switch. If this isn't an issue for you, then it's an excellent deal.

Make sure you get the Ansmann 2700 mAh batterie. As of our last review, the Ansmann 2800 mAh batteries did not do so well.
