Fast Charging a NiCd Rechargeable Battery
- Properly monitored, a NiCd rechargeable battery can be charged at rates up to 1C.
- Charge termination can be done using the minus delta V method.
- The delta V occurs when the battery voltages drops -10 to -20 mV per cell.
- Complex algorithms required for ultra-fast charging requires constant monitoring of the voltage and temperature.
- This is called a smart charge, or a controlled fast charge.
