Alkaline Rechargeable Batteries could be your choice if …

  • The device is used infrequently (like flashlight) or is a low drain device like a clock. The self-discharge rate of Ni-MH rechargeable batteries is 1% per day. That’s 30% per month.
  • Misconception: There is a need for the full 1.5v of an alkaline battery. Although rare today, some devices that take multiple batteries won't work with Ni-MH batteries because the voltage is too low.
  • The previous statement is far from true. Today’s devices are designed to be used with rechargeable batteries. Also remember that an Alkaline battery does not maintain 1.5v for very long anyway. Most of its life cycle is well below that.
