Energizer CH15MNCP-4 Overview

The Energizer CH15MNCP-4 Battery Charger does actually charge the original Energizer 2200 mAh batteries in 15 minutes.

The Energizer CH15MNCP-4 Battery Charger keeps the batteries cool by using a fan to blow air around the batteries.

Charge completion depends on the capacity of the battery though.

The Energizer CH15MNCP-4 sells for under $40 US, and even under $30 US on sale.

You get 4 AA Energizer 2200mAh batteries with this unit. These batteries are great performers. Check out the test results.

So what is the value? Consider the fact that you get :

4 AAA NiMH batteries (value $10US);

If you get the the Energizer CH15MNCP-4 charger for about $30 US, the charger really costs you only $20 US.

If you really need a 15 minute charger, it could be a good deal for you.

Energizer CH15MNCP-4 Battery Charge Capacity Tests

During the review, we tested Energizer 2500 mAh, Energizer 2200 mAh and Powerex 2500 mAh batteries in the Vanson V6988 Charger and in the Energizer CH15MNCP-4 Battery charger.

( tested results in % of rated capacity, i.e.. for a 2000mAh battery 99% = 1980mAh )

As you can see from the results, the Energizer CH15MNCP-4 Battery charger does a good job of charging the original Energizer 2200 mAh batteries.

The other higher capacity batteries are not close to being completely charged. This charger is supposed to have smart charging technology to detect when each individual battery is charged. Topping off the battery would have to come from trickle charging.( check the instructions )

We took the batteries right out of the unit after the charge light came on. The Energizer CH15MNCP-4 does provide trickle charging so leaving batteries in the charger would probably results in a better charge.

That's not what we wanted to test though.

Energizer CH15MNCP-4 Battery Charging Temperature Tests

We did find that the batteries got warm. We could touch the batteries while charging without getting burnt, but they were more than warm. You could feel the warm air flowing from around the batteries from the fan in the unit ( see the temperature test ).

During the Energizer CH15MNCP-4 temperature test, the temperature reached a maximum of about 37 degrees celcius.

None really to speak of except the charging. Trickle charging was not tested.

Energizer CH15MNCP-4 Overall Conclusion

The Energizer CH15MNCP-4 does an OK job of charging batteries in 15 minutes.

If you run through batteries at a high rate ( like some photographers I know ), Even batteries charged at 85% will do the job.

If you buy this charger, I recommend you buy more Energizer 2200mAh batteries.

Improvements :

A version of this charger that does a better job of topping up higher capacity batteries in 15 minutes.

Charge Mode

The Energizer CH15MNCP-4 Battery charger does charge the Energizer 2200 mAh batteries quite well.

The instructions indicate that you can charge any NiMH batery, although we didn't find the charge to be complete after 15 minutes.

Trickle charge mode would have to be used to top up higher capacity batteries.
